As a snail that has done a bit of teaching with my 500+ kids, while they are doing their home work, I was
always looking for resources to use and after I have done a bit of research and talked with some great people
I started to put a list of great sites and downloads together, which I hope will help you and be useful.
It would be great if you could help by sending any of your links and what you feel would help other teachers.
History is such an amazing subject to learn and if we can make it that little bit more exciting, well I might be able to
get a holiday and put my feet up a bit!
Send your links by email to snailmail@historypods.co.uk
Thank you

Britannia was launched from the John Brown & Company shipyard in Clydebank
on 16 April, 1953. For over 44 years she served the Royal Family, travelling over
one million miles to become the most famous ship in the world. To Her Majesty
The Queen, Britannia proved to be the perfect Royal residence for glittering state
visits, official receptions, Royal honeymoons and relaxing family holidays. For
Great Britain, she was a majestic symbol of the Commonwealth and a proud
ambassador. For the Royal Family and dedicated crew of Royal Yachtsmen, she
was home.
Robin Hood (spelled Robyn Hode in older manuscripts) is a heroic outlaw in English
folklore, a highly skilled archer and swordsman. He has become known for “robbing
from the rich and giving to the poor”, assisted by a group of outlaws known as his
“Merry Men”. The origin of the legend is claimed by some to have stemmed from
actual outlaws, but some say it is only from ballad and story.
Please feel free to download the results of Pods first school testing phase within a
year 4 class and a year 5 class (age group 8 years to 10 years old).
The Students were asked to look at Pod and the website, then listen to one of the
History Pods relevant to their year group. The result shows a positive swing toward
this style of educational resource. With learning out comes in history, listening,
English, observation and more.
